This week has been both amazing and exhausting. It started out with a lot of auditions, appointments and meetings then I caught a cold from baby Sky. Now I haven't had a cold since before I got pregnant which was like in 2015. I don't get sick since I do all the preventative measures so my body can heal itself before it manifests sickness. Luckily, I stopped the cold from wiping me out by practicing this energy clearing technique plus some hot yoga in the shower. I am thankful for this cold, it reminded me to love myself even more by pampering myself. I took a well deserved half day off from mommy-hood and got myself an organic custom facial and foot massage. It was a very relaxing half day I must say.
We literally just moved to a new place in East LA yesterday. I finally feel like I'm where I'm suppose to be! And this is huge for me because since I immigrated to Seattle in 1992, I never felt like I had a home. I have always felt like an outsider. Living in east LA really suits me. I can walk into a Chinese toy store and suddenly it brings back memories of when I was 12 years old and how I used to collect all those stationaries and cute stickers or go to Phoenix Desserts and order my favorite steamed egg custard. Then I can drive to Hollywood or Burbank and check out an organic juicery or get pastries at Porto's and take an acting workshop at the SAG foundation. It is the best of both worlds! I get to be around my Chinese culture + Hollywood. I get to speak Chinese & English. I get to merge and really embody both of my cultures which makes me feel so much more alive just living here! I feel like part of my old self is dying to welcome this new cycle of my life and the cold is part of this rebirth. I do feel a calmness over me that I cannot explain.
I believe part of paying attention to our bodies is being aware of the toxic energy built up from living life. Whether it's being stuck in rush hour traffic or getting slammed at the office or having an argument with a family member. It is very important to become aware and release any self destructive energy from our bodies and minds. Some of the exercises look like I'm just kicking and bouncing around but if you do them with the intent of releasing emotions, and any negative energies you may have picked up during the week, you will feel lighter afterwards.
Of course like everything else worthwhile, it takes practice, discipline, clear intention and faith to keep on keeping on even when we don't feel like doing it. I have been doing this for years and it saves my life. Just a few minutes can totally and completely shift my mood and energy. Let me know how it goes! Looking forward to share the next video on self-massage!
